With starting a new course year, I wanted to create a new website for my work, not only to have a blank slate to work with but also for technical reasons in that I had reached the maximum number of static pages available on my last site. The first step was to create a new site in wix dashboard and a new domain. I was able to get a student discount on the domain purchase, allowing me to get it for free. I then looked into transferring my plan over to this site so I didn't have to pay for two separate plans. It was simple and I was able to keep the 5GB of storage it gave me on my previous site as long as I didn't upload anything else. With the plan renewing in November of this year (2026) I am also going to look into applying a student discount to that as well. As when I originally purchased it, I was able to get 50% off, leaving me to pay only £60, however, the renewal price remains at £120 and is something I am going to explore closer to the time.

I enjoy graphic design and website design in general, so I had fun creating the new visuals for my site. Aesthetic appearance combined with a simple and accessible interface and user friendliness were among my top priorities. I chose a simple colour palette of two contrasting colours and a font that was easy to read. I created a new anchor menu for each part of my project so far, using a drop down approach to keep everything in one place. I also made sure to install a 'back to top' app in the wix app store so I could have this element on each page to improve efficiency for viewers navigating my site.

Additionally, I created a new portfolio for this year in a different format than last. Last year I had a gallery of a jumble of images from different projects scattered together. This time I added a section for each of my previous projects - from this year and last - and added a 'selected work' section for some of my best images in different genres. Additionally, I uploaded a photography book I had made as a PDF and added it under 'publications and exhibitions' where I also have images of exhibitions I have done.
